Hendrik's comments on Revelation Chapter 13
Commonsense will be your best friend in Revelation & here
here in Revelation chapter 13
Metaphors etc this chapter is easy to understand if you know more about Revelation. The Christian Bible that came from the Jews.
Make sure you read this Chapter have a look at other views and this chapter is commonsense if you simply accept. Metaphors represent something and the answer to the Metaphors is in knowing Revelation and it might even help to know the Prophets in the O/T Old Testament, Prophets such as Ezekiel, Daniel, Jeremiah, and other Prophets .I can make the point it is better to know your Bible from Genesis to Revelation the better to know the better. Not just read the Bible, but get to know it so well it is in your brain, memory. The World, that is God's Kingdom is inside your mind and that means if you can accomplish this then you are not cherry picking which is what most people do and that is why so many Theologians, Ministers, Vicars, Fathers, Laymen, Laywomen and ordinary Christians have a misunderstanding of what Revelation is saying, which is a pity.  So get to know the Bible so well that as you look at Revelation other relevant information will come into your brain and you will have a better understanding of what Revelation is saying.
Simply using a Commentary is second best, to know your Bible well, well, well is a great secret in God using you as he opens his word to you. It is true the anointing you have, that is the Holy Spirit teaches you better then any person or book or minister's talk.

Get to know your Bible better.
I am simply going to talk about the 18 verses here of chapter 13 of Revelation as a whole from verses 1 to 18 so get hold of your hat because we are dealing with when the Era of Grace ends and Satan has been left out of the Pit and Satan knows his time is short so the world starts to fall over quickly (to understand what I am saying here you need to look at my other chapters because the metaphors used here are discussed in other chapters) and now I am going to tell you what will happen.
Here we go
here in verse 1 of Chapter 13 of Revelation we see the beast rising out of the sea with ten horns, seven heads, ten diadems these metaphors represent the Countries, Nations, Governments so we see 10 Countries and the countries are likened to a beast and the leopard can be a picture of speed, and the lions mouth for ripping apart and these people are a unity so collectively a beast and God's enemy Satan gave these countries great power.
One of the countries has a mortal wound and what that means we do not know, something in history of the  countries in the beast is hurt seriously
Speculation can be made now about the injury but as time goes on for thousands of years the canvas of countries, technology and more can be completely different to the world we live in in say 10,000 years.

In verse 5 we can see the 10 Countries are swearing against the people in heaven blaspheming and these countries are fighting against God's people. Who the countries are that are classed as Saints can be people who live on the earth and the Saints are subdued that is Satan's people the 10 countries win the battle and this can be a situation in chapter 11 of Revelation where the witnesses are killed and the world is rejoicing in the Saints demise. It is interesting to note God's true people that is those who are not written in the book of life, so we know the true Christian people do not give allegiance to the Beast so they are killed,
we see the people give obedience to the beast except those written in the book of life and Christians are killed and the world is happy about it happening.
So it is a period of testing for the Christians that is why verse 10 says. "Here is a call for endurance and faith of the saints."
But something happens at that time
then another beast rises up metaphor same as discussed above and has the same power as the first but more great things it can do and this beast can be what is pictured in chapter 17 seven kings and an eighth comes out of the seven but the eighth is only in place for a short period  but this beast is so amazing that it appears to even send fire down from heaven so people are tricked in believing the first beast  to give allegiance to the first beast. And  the the beast who rises up heals the wound, that is the nation, people who has a mortal wound (v3) is healed by the beast that rises up.
in chapter 13 a nation verse 11 a (beast)  convinces the first 10 nations to have the mark of the beast. The mark is not a literal mark but it is the people who are fighting against God, Nations, Government, people, and no one can do any commerce unless they belong to the people who have the so called mark.
Even today you can see it is possible the world can be tied in a certain way so that unless people toe the line they cannot do any work. In history that happened where people had to attend mass, have a certificate showing they attended mass and without the certificate people could not work.
Exactly what 666 that is six hundred and sixty-six is anyone's guess.

So this Chapter  13 pictures the era when the Grace period comes to an end and then Satan is let out of the pit and the nations turn against the true Christians.
Once the Grace comes to an end the world turns on itself and in the end mankind themselves destroy their own world.
We can picture here a world full of nations fighting other, who fight who is a matter of conjecture in 10,000 years what nations will be around and what will they be called.

Next time lets have a look at chapter 14 of Revelation.

Revelation 13

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

The Beast from the Sea

13 And the dragon stood on the sand of the [a]seashore.

Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names. 2 And the beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon gave him his power and his throne and great authority. 3 I saw one of his heads as if it had been [b]slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast; 4 they worshiped the dragon because he gave his authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him? 5 There was given to him a mouth speaking [c]arrogant words and blasphemies, and authority to act for forty-two months was given to him. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemies against God, to blaspheme His name and His tabernacle, that is, those who [d]dwell in heaven.

7 It was also given to him to make war with the [e]saints and to overcome them, and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him. 8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been [f]written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain. 9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 10 If anyone [g]is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the [h]perseverance and the faith of the [i]saints.

The Beast from the Earth

11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb and he spoke as a dragon. 12 He exercises all the authority of the first beast [j]in his presence. And he makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform [k]in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who *had the wound of the sword and has come to life. 15 And it was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast would even [l]speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed. 16 And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, [m]to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, 17 and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is [n]six hundred and sixty-six.
