There are heaps of articles on the Internet that deal with Masturbation and they do a good job and plenty of Bible texts to support their views, Secular and Religious. In the Bible both the Old Testament and New Testament use Sodom and Gomorrah for instruction. We are to learn from Sodom and Gomorrah's destruction by God. Teaching by God that men and men should not lie together, and women not to lie with women, talking about sex relationships with each other. We call it Homosexuality. An essay further below about Homosexuality Now, Masturbation is not forbidden in the Bible, unless it is classed as depraved passion of some sort. The Religious Churches, Denominations use examples in the Bible talking about the body, Temple etc. Try to make Masturbation a dirty act. (Sex with Men and Women can also be dirty if abused or used incorrectly.) to stop people, even though many of them do the act themselves. So they cause trouble for people by their forbidden of Masturbation. For most people, Masturbation it is a natural event the body wants. So the Religious, Denominations, Churches, Pastors, Vickers, Fathers and trying to force people to act contrary to their body requirements, instincts. As I said you in the beginning, a large group of people do not Masturbate. That is fine, and I am not talking to you. |
If you do Masturbate I believe you should start from the foundation that the Bible does not forbid Masturbation, I suppose if Churches, Denominations, Religious and others tell you not to do that you are fighting natural instincts. What will win in spite of being told, you not to Masturbate. You will. You will follow your instincts in spite of people telling you to not Masturbate. You will, but it has been stained with guilt. I think that is sad and unnecessary. But like all things in life you need to be the boss, the master of your life and that covers all things in life, Work, Alcohol drinking, Smoking, Coffee drinking, Medicine, Coca Cola, Sex, Masturbation, Quality time with your Wife, Children and the list can go on and on. Any over indulgence can be classed a problem with any person to be mastered and brought under control. So do reduce your over indulgence. Some will reduce but others will keep on going. That is life. As I have said earlier, some people do not Masturbate and they do not for lots of reasons. Could be they never bothered about it their body did not crave for it. Could be a Religious reasons. Could be could it maybe addictive. Lots of reasons can be given for staying away from Masturbation in the same way many people do not drink Alcohol. Could be they never bothered about it their body did not crave for it. Could be a Religious reasons. Could be could it maybe addictive. Lots of reasons can be given for staying away from Alcohol and you can make a large list of why people act or do not act. But one point is clear, we encourage all people to be in control of their lives, Master, Boss. |
As a Christian there is one aspect of your Christian walk with Jesus Christ you need to consider. Jesus, God, Holy Spirit, could be saying to you, I want you to be the Master of your life and that covers all things in life, Work, Alcohol drinking, Smoking, Coffee drinking, Medicine, Coca Cola, Sex, Masturbation, Quality time with your Wife, Children and the list can go on and on. Before we go on I need to state that the area of Sexuality, Sex, Copulation, Masturbation is a private matter for yourself. It has nothing to do with other people. As a Christian, God, Jesus is a living person who knows you, your strengths and weaknesses. God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit will help you because they look after you. That means your walk with Jesus Christ is real and he talks to you , not only through the Bible, but also your Thoughts, Dreams, Visions, Circumstances. If Jesus wants you to stop doing something
in your life, Jesus will tell you through the Bible, Your thoughts,
Visions, Dreams, Circumstances. If Jesus wants you to sort something
out you will not have any peace until you obey. That can include a
Sexuality area in your life and that can Masturbation. If you have a sinking feeling that you must obey Jesus on a matter and you obey, then you slip back. Then obey again and slip again Jesus has said you are to forgive 7 times 7 each time the person repents. That clearly tells you that if you are trying to obey Jesus's obey and keep slipping back forgiveness is always there. If you never obey Jesus properly, but keep
slipping back, there is a possibility that your Christian walk could
be injured because you have not completely denied yourself
because you are holding something that Jesus wants gone from your
life. That is life. This is the end of the story. I am a
Christian I am always saddened when people make people guilty
about a matter that is not clear. Therefore, go on living your life
as a Servant of Jesus Christ. He will look after you. |

Homosexuality Sociology of Sex and Sexuality Is homosexuality more a product of society then a reflection of individual sexual desires or sexual identities? Answer with reference to any historical period of interests you most. My paper will first make general statements about homosexuality, and then note that homosexuality is practiced in all societies. In my research I will try to find out, is homosexuality more a product of society then a reflection of individual sexual desires, or sexual identities? I will then look at homosexuality in Ancient cultures, in places like Greece, Greek, and Egypt. Then, I will discuss Judaism and the laws that forbade homosexuality practice. In my research on the `cause' of homosexuality, and also surveying ancient cultures, my findings is that, the `cause' of homosexuality needs more research. Many researchers believe that `no single cause' for homosexuality can be found in either the biological or society studies (it may be a mixture of biological and social, or another element not found). And no single `cause' for homosexuality could be found. As we survey history, we find that homosexuals exist in every period and in every society. Societies that accept homosexual behaviour as normal have a higher proportion of men who have experimented with homosexuality, then societies that regard homosexuality abnormal.[1] Yet even though homosexuality has always existed in all societies, a good question would be, what is the cause of homosexuality? Most authors agree, we do not know what causes homosexuality, we have insights, such as the most favoured theory, that homosexuality's `cause' is the role of family background. However, it could be both, biological and social or wholly biological or social. Whatever the cause of homosexuality we know that homosexuals existed in the past, they exist today and we know they will exist in tomorrow's world. Some Homosexuals are promiscuous, others have stable relationships with true commitment and love. Some have parenting urges, so homosexuals have the same needs for friendships and love as heterosexuals.[2] Many psychiatrists and specialists in sexology see homosexual as a sickness and they need help.[3] But are homosexuals a deviation, an illness, an immaturity, an unnatural and non-productive practice, or a normal acceptable variant lifestyle?[4] My research has led me to believe homosexuality is not abnormal (using the measuring stick that homosexuality tendencies are in every person), but there are variations in the person, more femininity or masculinity. We know that in any society, ninety per cent are heterosexual in sexual orientation, the other ten percent includes homosexuals.[5] Homosexuals in Western societies is about 4 percent and in female 2 per cent.[6] Millions of men and women have interacted sexually with same partners.[7] So we are faced by powerful social success with homosexuals or it is more a biological situation? Can we say that a thing is biological if sexual urges exist in `all' persons without exception…if those urges are there, then it must be woven into our very fibres of our being. And if a thing is congenital… how can we fail to believe that it was implanted by the will of God, not to injure us, but to help us.[8] We know that there is no such being as a 100 per cent male or 100 per cent woman. Therefore, between the masculine man and the feminine woman there is a whole range of intersexual states with some men have a high proportion of femininity in their physical makeup and some women with a high proportion of masculinity in them. It can be said that a homosexual is a male with a high proportion of femaleness in him. It may seem a natural feeling to him to desire sexual intimacies with a male.[9] According to one writer, a biological cause for homosexuality will fail, because trying to isolate homosexuality from heterosexuality is impossible, because both forms of behaviour co-exist in the same person.[10] If what we have just discussed above, an older boy could cause a younger boy to go homosexual, because it is in his being, and he did not find the activity wrong. Whereas, a normal child, that is not biologically slanted to homosexuality, would find homosexuality activity disgusting.[11] Then we have Jeffrey Satinover who talks about the `gene'. A study by American activists indicated that in a pair of identical twins, the chances are one of them is homosexual. They studied dozens of twins and they decided homosexual is genetic.[12] We also find that many homosexuals find it impossible to have a `normal' heterosexual marriage. No amount of persecution, chiding and punishment, or exhortation will turn a homosexual into a heterosexual being.[13] The psychiatrists who believe in biologically a `cause of homosexuality, state that, if a person is not a `biologically homosexual' that person can be treated.[14] Those psychiatrists are saying, it is wrong to be homosexual. It needs to be treated like a sickness. However, there are studies which indicate that the success of finding a `biological cause' for homosexuals could be incorrect. One of these theories, is that there was an assumption men were either feminine or masculine. The earliest studies in the late nineteenth century were about the appearance and actions feminine or masculine. These studies failed to find any physical differences between homosexuals and heterosexuals, so this type of `biological research' fell into disfavour.[15] But later studies with more sophistication looked at chromosomal abnormalities. As quoted from a research in a paper called, `Readings in the Psychology of Women' it was found: instead of the normal XY pattern, some males were discovered to have more X chromosomes in an XXY or XXXY pattern, others were found to have extra Y chromosomes. The study failed because there was no greater incidence in homosexuals in these people with the abnormal chromosomes in comparison to the rest of the population.[16] If a person is not a homosexual biologically then perhaps homosexuality is a product of society. Charles. W. Socarides in his work `The Overt Homosexual' states, a man chooses a homosexual's lifestyle in order to break out of his isolation after trying to achieve interpersonal relationships, with men and other women. He fails to achieve masculinity. But he states, that the man seeks homosexuality because of depression and anxiety. [17] So his research indicated that the homosexual is sick and needs help. Another researcher Anthony Storr in his work, `Sexual Deviation' agreed with the `narcissism' of the male homosexual. Homosexuals were immature because they could not develop satisfying relationships with women. They could not have a fulfilling life, because a heterosexual relationship was the way to have a fulfilling life. They cling to their mothers or they remain `castrated boys' never able to achieve their full masculine potential.[18] An important research study from psychoanalytic therapists: `discovered' smothering mothers and indifferent fathers by the score in the childhoods of homosexuals. [19] I Bieber in his work `Homosexuality: A Psychoanalytic study' said that homosexuality in a male is because of the, influence of a `close-binding intimate' mother, who overprotected, dominated and `demasculinized' her son. That woman would also dominate her husband and her son finaly decides to be a homosexual.[20]. Then another study by J. Snortum and his colleagues, that involved 46 men in the study `supported' Biebers study.[21] Many therapist's were not happy with the conclusions from researches such as Bieber and Storr, because they found it hard to believe that the parents of a homosexual could have suppressed their sons heterosexual assertiveness.[22] Another study by a researcher did not find the `an abnormally intense mother-child relationship' that other researches claim to have found.[23] Another researcher, G.Robertson did not find in his study the same conclusions as Bier and Storr. He concluded that the existence of too powerful relationship between child and mother is not itself of primary importance in the genesis of male homosexuality.[24] Finally to conclude my research, M. Siegelman, also could not draw any conclusions about the cause-effect relationships between parental behaviour and sexual orientation of their children.[25] These findings seem to point out there is a `lack' of `any' association at all between family relations and homosexuality or heterosexuality. But even though research shows that in the social arena no cause for homosexual can be found I believe that `norms' in society play an important role in deciding whether homosexuals activity is normal or abnormal. F.F. Rigby states that `homosexuality' is an abnormal form of sexuality, because sex exists is for reproduction of children.[26] Then we have Vice Dan Quale (anti-gay politician) made a statement 1992 when he was talking about brain and genetic studies, `My viewpoint is that it's more of a choice than a biological situation…it is a wrong choice.[27] Homosexuality is still considered a wrong choice in today's world. Homosexuals are considered a threat to society, because they do not represent the norm and they are marginalised in western cultures. People, whose sexuality is different, are told they are abnormal. Jeff Konradin, in his publication,`You Don't Have to be Gay'. He states homosexual is a cultural situation, and you can change because it is abnormal behaviour in society. [28] It is easy to say, `change' your sexual preference, but research's has found that sexual choice is made in early childhood and it is almost impossible to change later in later adult life.[29]. But the problem is, that homosexuality may be unchosen.[30] That could be the case, if a person is a homosexual biologically rather then a social construction. It is possible that a homosexuality identity of a person could be formed by biologically and social. Therefore, as R.E. Smith in his book `Psychology' discusses, that no cause has been found whether a person will be homosexual or heterosexual. But the one consistent difference homosexuals had, is that they felt different from others (normal sexual choices etc)[31] Feeling different with their object choice could be the biologically part of a person's being. So if a person was not constrained in their sex object, then that person would consider it normal if their choice was a homosexual life style. But that choice of homosexuality has a price for the individual, forces are at work in society. If a society refuses to accept a homosexual life style for others, then although biologically their desire is a homosexual life they will suppress their homosexuality.[32] But homosexuality is a reality whether we argue that the cause of homosexuality is biologically or a social phenomenon. What we can say objectively, homosexuality has existed in all forms of civilisations. It exists in our Post-Modern world (2003) and as we reach back in time, among the uncivilised worlds, and in the ancient developed civilisations such as Greek, Greece and Egypt, homosexuality life style has always existed. The ancient world divided sexuality simply, an active partner and a passive partner. They did not think about gender preference like we do. Boys and women were interchangeable objects of a male's desire. The object was not considered. The sex act was not an interchange between two people. It was simply the penetrator to penetrate the object.[33] Researchers have indicated, that in Ancient Near Eastern cultures, surveys showed that homosexuality was practiced widely.[34] For instance, Egyptian culture considered having `homosexual' intercourse with a god was beneficial because it was a sign that the man had control of his god. One Egyptian coffin reads: `Atum (a god) has no power over me, for I copulate between his buttocks.' Another coffin reads: `I will swallow for myself
the phallus of (the God).'[35] Throughout ancient Greek civilization sex between men was accepted. It was also practiced among the leading citizens. Men were to have large number of offspring and many would also have a male lover.[36] The Greeks even placed homosexual love above the love of a woman.[37] Plato (427?-347 B.C.) one of the greatest Greek philosophers said in a gathering of `the chosen' the love they accepted as a matter of course is `homosexual love'.[38] But then Christianity came with its edicts on sexuality (This paper will discuss Christianity later.). In Greece men would find a boy that they could seduce, and this relationship was honoured. Men who had the time and money, did exactly that, they seduced boys. Numerous vases depict man-boy having sex.[39] The lover became a part in the boy's education.[40] Certainly in Sparta, homosexuality appeared to be universal among male citizens.[41] In the ancient world sexuality was an important part of society. It was utterly wild: Men had sex with women and with men: with little girls and young boys, with a single partner and in large groups, immediate family members…domestic animals…with inanimate objects…defecating on each other.[42] Societies did not put boundaries around their sexuality. But that was to change because of Judaism. Heterosexual activity for procreation was accepted, but homosexuality and other sexual activity was condemned: None of you shall approach any one near of kin to him to uncover nakedness….of your father…of your mother…your sister…or the daughter…your father's wife…or your mother's sister…or your father's brother…your daughter-in-law…your brother's wife…you shall not lie with a man as with a woman…not lie with any beast. [43] When Judaism demanded that sex was to be directed in a heterosexual relationship only, it changed the world.[44] A point has been made by writers that Torah's redirection of sexual activity to a heterosexual relationship that forbade homosexuality helped women to be no longer peripheral to men's lives.[45] Without the Bible with its stipulation on sex, with includes homosexuality, there is a possibility that that the fighting that has happened for over two thousand years may never have happened. The problem is that with the laws given on Mt Sinai, the Jews were told to destroy many nations in the land of Canaan. They were told to drive out the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, and Jebusites.[46] The reason for destroying them is because Judaism's God did not like how those nation's behaved and homosexuality was one of the activities Judaism's God did not like. The Jews were ruthless in following their God's instructions. We have discovered that the ancient world did what was natural and that is why there were their no boundaries around their sexual activity. I believe that the biological came first. It was natural for men to be undisciplined in their values. So, that sex became dominant in their lives and society.[47] So men were homosexual biologically. Following from the biological (cause) as men pursue their homosexual activities and it becomes part of the values in society then homosexual behaviour can happen because of social learning in society. Which it means, we are dealing with part biological, and part society as the reason for homosexuality. If the Bible's laws about sexuality did not happen then the following battles about sexuality identities would not have happened. So Judaism's laws about sexuality for the Jews, moved from the Jews only, to being imposed on other nations (non Jews). So a person's homosexuality is `correct' in a biologically sense. Society, because of social learning (the values brought into society because of the Bible) has been saying homosexuality is abnormal. And the results have been horrendous. In 390, A.D. Roman people witnessed the public burning of male prostitutes, dragged from homosexual brothels, because Emperor Theodosius agreed with the Mosaic law.[48] The value-judgement was that homosexuality was sinful and it implied the person had a weakness.[49] It was in 1102 A.D. church edicts that priests were to be disciplined if they did homosexual acts.[50] Nablus in 1120 A.D. superstition was strong, so that when natural disasters happened the clerics was looking for moral faults in people and one of the faults that was to be corrected was homosexuality to remove God's wrath from society.[51] Finally, in 1953 the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Geoffrey Fisher wrote: Let it be understood that homosexual indulgence is a shameful vice and a grievous sin from which deliverance is to be sought by every means.[52] The preachers trampled on sexuality, the natural qualities that came from within. They came from the churches and brought shame, death and lust.[53] Therefore, homosexuality became a vulgar vice, and sometimes its practice was regarded a crime.[54] Heterosexual conditioning has a lot to answer for. Ridiculous, but so powerful.[55] The situation still exist in today's world that Homosexuals are considered a threat to society, because they do not represent the norm and they are marginalised in western cultures. People, whose sexuality is different, are told they are abnormal.[56] With a lot of resistance from the so-called heterosexual section of society, the marginalised groups are becoming a group to be recognised and listened to. The marginalised groups are saying that Freud and others who support his theories on sexuality are in error. Maybe homosexuality should be treated as a norm. Homosexual psychoanalytic research does not conclude that Homosexuals should be separated from the rest of humankind. Because they concluded, that all human beings are capable of making a homosexual object-choice.[57] Most groups in society promote to maintain the normalisation of heterosexuality.[58] Religious propaganda is that heterosexual union must be preserved for the sake of procreation.[59] Whether the homosexual is a social construction or a biological situation, homosexuals seek to come to terms with themselves and through self-affirmation commence on the path towards human liberation. ` Out of the closets and into the Streets.'[60]. The homosexual movement such as `Mardi Grass' are challenging the very definitions and demarcations that society has created.[61] Homosexuals are now rebelling against society attitudes, they have formed pressure groups. There are churches for homosexuals, such as the Metropolitan Community Church in Sydney.[62] My research has discovered that homosexuality has no single `cause'.
Homosexuality exists because it is biologically in a person and
there is also social learning in societies which facilitates the
homosexuality identity. Therefore homosexuality did not find a
`cause' in ancient cultures (B.C.), or was a `cause' for
homosexuality found in A.D. cultures. However, we can say that we
are closer to understanding the `cause' of homosexuality (in our
Modern World and Post-Modern world) because of sociology research.
Yes, homosexuality is a product of society, but it is no more
important then the individual desires, that cement sexual
identities.
